Kukkutānda tvak (egg- shell)

 Sanskrit - Kukkutāndatvak,

 

This is the empty egg shell of hen.

 

 

 Purification

 

The egg yolk is drained and the shells are kept in water and added with salt. then they are boiled for 3 hours. on cooling down, the thin inner membranous laver within the shell is carefully taken out and discarded. the shell part is washed with water and dried.

 

Marana

 The purified shell pieces are pounded to powder, added with kümari juice and ground thoroughly. the mass is made into chakras (round flat coins), dried and subjected to gajaputa to obtain soft-white bhasma.

dosage and uses 1 to 4 ratti (100 to 400 mg).

 

This is useful in heart diseases, urinary disorders, nocturnal emissions and leucorrhoea, menorrhagia and postpartum diseases of women.

This has been extensively used in calcium deficiency and diseases of women and positive reports have been submitted in the form of dissertations by many scholars.
